Silas Blak Bio

My name is Mark Washington aka Silas Blak.  I’m an implant via US Navy and an escapee from North Carolina. I was born in New Jersey and lived there until 12 years old, at which point my mother died. This was pretty crazy for my sister and I because we almost were out of family members. This was important to why I rap and what I rap about. I assume there are a lot of kids and adults like me.

My style is fatherless. I use hip hop to diffuse plus confuse. I teach for the youth. Writing to talk is my discipline. I could never really substantiate living on music. I write poetry for the pessimistics and the nondescript. But I learned a lot about myself through working to support my dream chasing.

Hip hop has allowed me the perspective I needed to live out my dreams parallel to how the industry dictates it. My culture and my voice to those in my community is most important to me. As scary as that has always been. The industry describes stars as role models. In the community though, we describe ourselves as advocates and the role of being the best you is always pressure. Therefore I found a style that could overstand.
