Every June, people celebrate LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer) Pride Month to remember the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan. That moment was a big turning point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the U.S. Pride Month is all about recognizing the important ways LGBTQ individuals have shaped history—locally, nationally, and around the world.
