JEL emerged from the Chicago scene as one of indie hip-hop’s masterful beat technicians and wordsmiths; a two-headed monster. As co-founder of the ANTICON label and artist, JEL made tremendous strides pushing the button on musical talent. Widely known for his use of the SP-1200 and MPC2000XL, JEL’s drum beats and finger drumming solos are practically unmatched (and performed with little or no sequencing).
